My Grading System

A+ = Masterpiece (I hold back on this one.) / A = Great. / A- = Really Good. / B+ = Good. / B = Decent (Serviceable). / B- = Flawed but okay (For those times there's something redeeming about the work). / C+ = Not very good (Skip it). C = Bad. / C- = Awful. / F = Complete Disaster (I hold back on this one too).

Note on Spoilers: I will try to avoid ruining a story by going into too much detail. But if I wish to include some revealing points to my analysis I will try to remember to add a separate spoiler paragraph.

The Song of Kali by Dan Simmons (Novel)

This a masterpiece of horror fiction, a dark story about a journalist/ translator going to Calcutta with his family so he can interview a famous poet that many thought had died.   There's a foreboding mood that fills every page of this excellent page-turner that has depth and soul like any great work of art.  There's a reason Harlen Ellison called this book a masterpiece and that's because it speaks volumes about evil and the precious need to overcome.  Grade: A
