My Grading System

A+ = Masterpiece (I hold back on this one.) / A = Great. / A- = Really Good. / B+ = Good. / B = Decent (Serviceable). / B- = Flawed but okay (For those times there's something redeeming about the work). / C+ = Not very good (Skip it). C = Bad. / C- = Awful. / F = Complete Disaster (I hold back on this one too).

Note on Spoilers: I will try to avoid ruining a story by going into too much detail. But if I wish to include some revealing points to my analysis I will try to remember to add a separate spoiler paragraph.

Puss In Boots (2011)

Dreamworks finally does it.  They make a great animated film based in the bastardized-fairy tale world the Shrek movies made famous.   This is mostly because Puss is a million times more likable and interesting than Shrek but also because the storytelling comes front and center instead backseat to annoying cultural references.   Puss (Antonio Banderas) along with his childhood friend Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) go on a search for the magical beans Jack and Jill just stole.   Their goal to use the beans to grow a bean stalk up to the giant's floating castle another Jack visited decades earlier.  Along for the mission is the sexy Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek).  It's a solid film and I'm glad it received an Oscar Nomination.  Grade: B+.

By the way:  If you're a cat owner you almost have to see this film.  The cat jokes are hilarious.
