Is this an anti-union film or is it a film about a man suck in the middle of two
stubborn forces? You be the judge. Richard Attenborough stars as a worker who
refuses to get involved with an unofficial strike. Doing so makes him a pariah
in his community, even from his best friend. Directed by Guy Green and shot in bold and beautiful black and white. Grade: B+
Sadly this film isn't available on DVD. I was able to stream it on Amazon. If you're at all curious about this film check it out now before it's gone forever.
My Grading System
A+ = Masterpiece (I hold back on this one.) / A = Great. / A- = Really Good. / B+ = Good. / B = Decent (Serviceable). / B- = Flawed but okay (For those times there's something redeeming about the work). / C+ = Not very good (Skip it). C = Bad. / C- = Awful. / F = Complete Disaster (I hold back on this one too).
Note on Spoilers: I will try to avoid ruining a story by going into too much detail. But if I wish to include some revealing points to my analysis I will try to remember to add a separate spoiler paragraph.
